Inventive Detective «The Secret of Emerald Boats»

The mystery of emerald boats will become the favourite book of many children because it contains all the necessary elements. The handiwork of Sergei Gavrilov fits perfectly with the parody detective Julia Kuznetsova. The designer’s mission was to create a model where the artist would have enough space and freedom to realize his ideas. Everyone knows how children like to look in a book when they are read by an adult, and when they read, they quickly get tired of large pieces of text. So there are large or small drawings at each turn that keep the child’s attention. In particular, for the boats, Sergei Gavrilov invented a nasty handwriting typeface that is an excellent complement to the image of the book. For the main text, the classical Peterburg font is selected, which is easily readable, not lost near, but does not argue with, sufficiently active illustrations. This is where the editor’s wish coincided with my artist’s wish. There’s a lot of humor in the titles of the chapters, and the author has devoted a lot of attention to the titles. It would be a crime not to take advantage of it, and not to defeat the interaction between handwritten letters and characters.
